Suspected Midtown bank robber arrested

ATLANTA – Police in Atlanta say a tip led to the arrest of a suspected bank robber.

Atlanta police say Caleb Griffin has been arrested in the robbery of a Bank of America in Midtown. He's also suspected in the robbery of a Georgia Primary Bank off Roswell Road.

Police believe Griffin used a BB gun in one of the cases.

It's not clear how much money was stolen in the robberies.

An indictment will follow soon, according to Atlanta police.

A Crime Stoppers tip led police to Griffin, authorities said.

Walton Robotics to be Featured on GPB’s “SciTech Now Georgia”

MARIETTA, Ga. (March 16, 2015) – Walton Robotics, an award-winning science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) program of Walton High School, will be featured on this week’s broadcast of “SciTech Now Georgia”. The program, Georgia Public Broadcasting’s (GPB) new, weekly half-hour look at the latest science and technology developments in Atlanta and the southeast, is scheduled to air on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at 7:30 p.m.

The segment will focus on the students of Walton Robotics and their success at being a leader in the field of high school robotics programs. For example, this past weekend Walton Robotics faced off against 63 teams -- from Brazil, Dominican Republic, Germany, Turkey as well as California, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Mississippi, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, and Virginia -- at the 2015 Orlando Regional FIRST Robotics Competition held at the University of Central Florida.

City of Atlanta special election is Tuesday

ATLANTA -- Registered voters living in the City of Atlanta are reminded to cast their ballots for the City of Atlanta special election at their designated precinct on Tuesday, Mar. 17 to vote for infrastructure bond referendums to pay for repairs and improvements.

“Registered voters should verify their voting precinct and poll location before election day,” said Richard Barron, Director of Fulton County Registration and Elections. “They should check their registration card to make sure they know where to vote on March 17.”

Suspect charged in Georgia Tech robberies

ATLANTA -- Georgia Tech Police have arrested the man accused of robbing a student inside the school's business college.

Quevos Talley was taken into custody Monday. Investigators believe he is the armed man who took a student's backpack in the atrium of the Scheller College of Business on Jan. 5.

Police said Talley is also accused of stealing two laptops from the business college in December.

Talley has been charged with two counts of burglary and one count each of armed robbery, false imprisonment, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Atlanta Police, MARTA Police, the FBI and Crime Stoppers helped Georgia Tech Police track down and arrest Talley.

"This was a great example of collaboration with multiple agencies to affect an arrest," Georgia Tech Police Chief Rob Connolly said in a statement.
