Trey Songs Announces Partnership with Target

ATLANTA, GA – Last night, Target hosted a private rooftop event for Grammy nominated, R&B crooner Trey Songz, in celebration of the release of his fourth studio album “Passion, Pain and Pleasure”.

During the party, Trey Songz announced his partnership with Target and that Target would be the exclusive retailer of the deluxe version of his album. The deluxe edition includes: four additional live tracks and thirty minutes of video footage.

ATLANTA – Sept. 7, 2010 – Atlanta area residents and visitors will enjoy a new regional arts event this fall when the debut Midtown Festival of the Arts opens Sept. 25-26.

According to a report released Monday, the average score for the state’s public, private and home school students fell for the fourth straight year.

To try and intercept this issue, the Atlanta City Council President Ceasar C. Mitchell and Kaplan are offering a free college entrance exam preparation series. This year is the programs 9th year.

This year Georgia saw its largest and most diverse group ever of graduating seniors take the SAT, the most widely used entrance exam for in-state colleges and universities. The SAT participation rate for the Georgia class of 2010 was 74 percent, ranking Georgia among the top 10 in the nation, state officials said.

Violent Crime Dips in Atlanta

ATLANTA -- Violent crimes in Atlanta hit a five-year low in 2009, a new report from the Federal Bureau of Investigation shows.

Violent crimes were down 14 percent to 6,359 even as the city's population rose to 552,901. Broken down, the violent crimes in 2009 included 80 murders, 2,725 robberies, 135 forcible rapes and 3,419 aggravated assaults.

Violent crimes numbered 7,403 in 2008, 8,075 in 2007, 7,548 in 2006 and 7,213 in 2005.

Property crimes dropped about 12 percent to 34,349. These included 19,511 larceny-thefts, 9,112 burglaries, 5,726 motor vehicle thefts and 157 cases of arson.

Property crimes numbered 38,978 in 2008, 36,232 in 2007, 32,231 in 2006 and 31,397 in 2005.

The metro area's worst crime areas for 2009 were College Park, East Point, Chamblee, Atlanta, Forest Park, Cumming, Fairburn, Lilburn, Norcross and Doraville.

On September 21st, the Savannah College of Art and Design will feature digital media giant, Scott Ross, in an exciting cross-country lecture series.

Ross has been recognized as a trailblazer in the entertainment and technology industry for more than 30 years, he has led companies such as Lucasfilm’s Industrial Light and Magic, and Digital Domain, receiving more than 15 Academy-award nominations and seven Oscars.

During this multi-city tour, Ross will speak about his career, the changing digital industry, hiring new talent, and how SCAD is preparing students for careers in creative fields. All lectures are free and open to the public.

During the early nineties, Ross was named vice-president of LucasArts Entertainment Group. About three years later, Ross branched out and created Digital Domain, one of the largest and most respected digital production studios in the motion picture and advertising industries.

With Ross at the helm, Digital Domain was honored with eight Academy Award nominations and received Oscars in 1997 for the groundbreaking visual effects in "Titanic" and in 1998 for "What Dreams May Come."

Join the City of Atlanta in fighting against diabetes. Captained by Atlanta City Councilmember Michael Julian Bond, who was diagnosed with diabetes in 1999, city employees have routinely stepped out and gone walking with the American Diabetes Association at its annual fundraiser and awareness walk at 8 a.m. on Saturday, September 25 at Grant Park (840 Cherokee Ave SE).

“After I was diagnosed with diabetes, a disease in which the body does not produce or properly use insulin, I made a commitment to educate my community about the effects of this disease and to do all I could to prevent diabetes from hurting anyone else,” Councilman Bond said.

It’s estimated that 10% of Georgians have been diagnosed with diabetes. And that diabetes is the sixth leading cause of death in Georgia.
