In the midst of the holiday shopping and social season, this is the ideal event for those looking for sweet inspiration for a memorable meal and special savings on gifts from the kitchen, perfect for the hostess, stocking stuffers or for one’s favorite foodie to find under the tree.
A celebration of food and fashion the holiday edition of Chefs in the City brings award winning pastry chef Heather Hurlbert of the Cherokee Town & Country Club to the store’s state-of-the-art demo kitchen on December 8, from 6-8 p.m. As everyone is wrapped up in the holidays with gingerbread house construction underway and visions of sugarplums dancing in their heads, guests will be dazzled by creative confections that won’t have Santa leaving even a crumb behind!
Hulbert has made a splash on the national culinary scene through outstanding achievements including 2011 National Showpiece Championship (Best Sugar Showpiece), first place in the America’s Pastry Cup Competition, as well as two gold medals and first place overall in the Southern Pastry Classic Competition. Many know her best for her sugar skills and sweet creations as a “cheftestant” on first season of Bravo’s Top Chef Just Desserts. While guests sip and savor Hurlbert’s sweet creations, they can get the best gifts at a discount and some new equipment for their own holiday baking with 20% off in the “Home for the Holidays” section of Bloomingdales! Guests will also have the opportunity to win chic prizes and giveaways from Bloomingdale’s, Grape Crush Productions and event partners.
Bringing what will soon become a culinary classic event to the city are community partners: Bloomingdale’s, Atlanta’s Finest Dining, Bacco Fine Wine, Crave Atlanta and Taste of Atlanta. Chefs in the City is created and produced by Grape Crush Productions.
To share in the spirit of good meals to be enjoyed by all, a portion of each evening’s proceeds will benefit Open Hand in an effort to further their mission of helping people prevent or better manage chronic disease through Comprehensive Nutrition Care™, which combines home-delivered meals and nutrition education as a means to reinforce the connection between informed food choices and improved quality of life.
Tickets are $25 in advance and may be purchased online at www.atlantachefs.eventbrite.com. A limited number of tickets may be available at the door for $35. Guests must be 21 or older to attend. In combining the food, wine and shopping experience with Chefs in the City, founder and president of Grape Crush Productions, Kyla Tilton Cox, shares that “Wine is art, it's culture.
