ATLANTA -- Bank of America Plaza, the Southeast's tallest building, will hit the auction block Tuesday, Businessweek reported Monday.

The business publication said the 1.25 million-square foot building will be sold on the Fulton County Courthouse steps.

The iconic skyscraper was sold to BentleyForbes, a California real estate company, in 2006. At $436 million, it was the largest real estate transaction in Atlanta history.

Since then, BentleyForbes has missed mortgage payments, and Bank of America Plaza has lost 54 percent of its value, Businessweek reported.
