Mi Cocina to bring authentic Tex-Mex cuisine to the heart of Midtown this October

ATLANTA -- Texas-based Mi Cocina is set to open its first Atlanta restaurant in the heart of Midtown at the northwest corner of Peachtree and 11th streets in the 12th & Midtown development this October, serving hand-crafted, fresh and traditional Tex-Mex cuisine in a modern, elegant setting.

A Texas favorite for 21 years, Mi Cocina will introduce Atlanta to its Tex-Mex style of traditional Mexican cooking using only the highest quality ingredients made fresh daily. Serving lunch and dinner, signature items will include the famous Mambo Taxi frozen libation and dishes such as the Sunset Fajitas, Tacos “De Brisket,” homemade salsa and hand-dipped enchiladas. The menu will range from salads to combo platters including vegetarian and gluten free options

Mi Cocina’s warm and lively atmosphere will be family-friendly with an urban and polished feel. The two-level space will have more than 300 seats, including two private dining rooms.

Mi Cocina remains committed to incorporating fine art from Mexican artists into its designs, which adds to the energy of the dining experience. In Atlanta, the restaurant’s warm and monochromatic color scheme will provide a neutral back drop to the vibrant and colorful artwork of Mexican artist Luis Sottil, whose work is featured in several other Mi Cocina restaurants. Sottil will create a vibrant three-dimensional mural along a 35-foot curved wall on the first floor depicting a variety of bird species native to greater Atlanta. The bird theme will continue on the second floor where he will hang frescos on large cone shaped structures, suspended from the ceiling, and depicting birds in flight.

Mi Cocina is owned by the M Crowd Restaurant Group, which operates more than 25 restaurants under three names: Mi Cocina (Atlanta will be the 21st location), Taco Diner (6 locations) and The Mercury, the majority of which are located in Texas.

Mi Cocina will be open for lunch and dinner daily. Hours will be Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Reservations are accepted for parties of 10 or more and catering is available as well by emailing LGuevara@mcrowd.com.
