Ponce de Leon Zesto closing | Business
ATLANTA -- The Zesto Drive-In restaurant at 544 Ponce de Leon Avenue will close its doors Sept. 20 after 60 years in business.
The Livaditis family sold the property to an undisclosed buyer, according to Zesto’s website.
The restaurant opened at the spot on Ponce in 1954 and sold only ice cream. The small original walk-up building was razed and rebuilt in 1991. The building, which features a classic diner look, earned the Atlanta Urban Design Commission’s Award for Architectural Excellence in 1991, and has been seen in many TV shows and commercials and feature movies since.
The other five Zesto locations around metro Atlanta will remain open.
