Chauncey Davis Gifts for the Holidays to Encourage a Winning, Healthy Lifestyle for Children | Community Spirit

ATLANTA -- Chauncey Davis, Chicago Bear and former Atlanta Falcon, will donate new bikes for youth this holiday season to encourage exercise and a healthy lifestyle year round. 

“I’m dedicated to working with youth in Atlanta, Chicago and in my hometown of Auburndale, FL,” said Davis, who maintains his permanent residence in the Metro Atlanta area, “There is no better gift I can think of than the gift of life through promoting healthy lifestyles and exercise year round.” 

This is the third time Chauncey has carried out his Annual Chauncey Dave Bike for L.I.F.E. initiative. This year he will be providing 94 bikes to youth this Christmas as a part of an ongoing effort to encourage physical fitness and combat childhood obesity and diabetes. “Diabetes has totally changed my life and my mother’s life,” said Davis, “If I can expose young people to a different way of life, then their story may not have to be my mother’s story.”

Davis established The Chauncey Davis Foundation, a nonprofit organization, in 2007 shortly after his mother’s amputation due to complications from diabetes. Since its establishment, the foundation has worked in the community to promote health/wellness, nutrition and diabetes awareness. Davis stated that if he can expose young people to a different way of living they may not have to be his mother’s story, he would consider it “a big win!”, and the ultimate life changing victory.
