Black Gay Pride returns to Atlanta
ATLANTA -- Atlanta Black Gay Pride, the country's leading LGBTQ annual pride celebration, is gearing up for their annual celebration during the 2014 Labor Day holiday weekend.
The festival, which runs Aug. 28 through Sept. 1, will feature special guest performances from Faith Evans, Tamar Braxton and Sevyn Streeter. The Georgian Terrace and Loews Hotel in Downtown Atlanta are the official host hotels for pride weekend.
This year, the festival will honor Grammy Award-winning songstress Faith Evans. Evans will receive the 2014 Humanitarian Award and will perform live on the main stage.
The five-day holiday weekend will also feature the third annual Pure Heat Community Festival, which takes place on Sunday, Aug. 31 from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Piedmont Park. The cultural event will highlight market and food vendors, live performances, entertainment, educational forums, prizes and giveaways, all of which bring together the spirit of community, pride and vision.
