Fulton County Seniors to Learn How to Guard Against Scams

Fulton County Seniors can take advantage of a workshop on how to protect themselves against scams.  The next session of “Be Aware of the Tricks of the Trade: Guarding against Senior Scams” will be held on Thursday, July 12, 2012.  The one-hour program will be held at the Bethlehem Neighborhood Senior Center from 11:00 a.m. until Noon.

The Bethlehem Neighborhood Senior Center is located at 87 Thayer Street in Atlanta, GA 30315. The session is sponsored by the Fulton County Housing and Human Services Department, Office of Housing and Community Development.

All Fulton County meeting facilities meet ADA accessibility requirements.  Citizens in need of reasonable accommodations and communication in an alternative format, please contact the Department of Housing and Human Services at (404) 613-7944.  For relay-type services, dial 711.

ATLANTA -- Fireworks are the pièce de résistance for any Independence Day celebration. Find out where you can see them in Atlanta this Fourth of July.

Legendary 4th of July at Lenox Square
The largest fireworks display in the Southeast returns to Lenox Square in Buckhead this year. The fun begins at 10 a.m., when the mall itself opens. Fulton County and NORC to Host Health Services Information Session on Wednesday, June 27

EAST POINT, Ga. -- East Point NORC (Naturally Occurring Retirement Community) in partnership with Fulton County’s Health Department will provide information on all services available through Fulton County Health Services.  The Information Session will be held Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at PTC (Peachtree City) Christian Church.  NORC and Health Services Staff will host the session in the chapel on the PTC Campus.  PTC is located at 1706 Washington Road in East Point, GA 30344 and is one of three PTC locations in metro Atlanta.

Participants can obtain answers to questions they have always wanted to know about the “Health Department” but never had a chance to ask. They will also learn what resources are available for adults and children.  Free blood pressure screenings will be available to seniors who participate in the session.

Fulton County Workshop to Teach Seniors How to Prepare Tasty and Healthy Summer Meals

EAST POINT, Ga. -- Fulton County and the East Point NORC (Naturally Occurring Retirement Community) are collaborating with Georgia State University Nutrition Students to teach seniors how to prepare tasty and healthy meals for the summer.  NORC and the Georgia State students will host a workshop on Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. in the fellowship hall of PTC Christian Church.  The Church is located at 1706 Washington Road in East Point Georgia.  PTC in East Point is one of three locations of Peachtree City Christian Church.

Workshop participants will enjoy a FREE three-course meal, which will include a beverage and free recipes to take home. All who wish to attend must RSVP to allow planners to provide an accurate number of servings. There will also be a chance to win a $10 gift certificate to a local grocery store.
