APD to Conduct Public Safety Seminar

Senior Patrol Officer Patricia Powell, the Atlanta Police Department’s Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender (GLBT) Liaison, will conduct a public safety seminar at Outwrite Bookstore and Coffeehouse in Midtown. The seminar is free and open to the public. This seminar will be offering public safety tips designed to help keep community residents safe and reduce their chances of becoming victims of crime.

Councilmember Carla Smith presents "EcoDepot" at Atlantic Station

Living Green in Atlanta just became, a little bit, easier. Atlanta City Councilmember Carla Smith has partnered with LivingGreenPages, Live-Thrive Atlanta, Atlanta Recycling Solutions and Clean Harbors to present the City of Atlanta’s Largest Household Hazardous Waste, Meds and E-Scrap Collection 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. September 25 at Atlantic Station.

This event will be held during the Atlantic Staiton "EcoLife" event which will last through September 25-26 at Atlantic Station.

Department of Health and Wellness Urges Residents to Use Prevention Measures

The Fulton County Department of Health and Wellness has confirmed the first human case of West Nile Virus (WNV) for the 2010 season. 

The lab confirmed case involved a 67 year old female residing in Midtown.  The woman, who suffers from underlying health conditions, was hospitalized and has since recovered.  Residents are urged to take precautions when outside and to clear areas of standing water, which is where mosquitoes breed.
