Screen on the Green not returning this year | News

ATLANTA -- Screen on the Green will not return to Piedmont Park this summer. The organization that sponsors the popular event - The Piedmont Park Conservancy - says its focus is on raising money to complete the remainder of a 53-acre expansion project at the park, reports WABE.

The annual outdoor movie event was almost canceled last year, but was saved when several sponsors stepped in at the last minute, the station adds.

"It's just not a priority for us to do this event for this year, so we didn't even attempt to go out and get sponsors," said Yvette Bowden, the president chief executive officer of the Conservancy.

Bowden said she's not sure if the event will return to the park in the future, WABE reported.
