ATLANTA -- Atlanta's Sweetwater Brewing Company held its 7th annual Save the Hooch campaign to help protect the Chattahoochee River.
Sweetwater Brewery presented Chattahoochee Riverkeeper with a check for $30,000 on August 4, at their End of Summer BBQ celebration.
According to Sweetwater Brewery, their Save the Hooch campaigns have raised $380,000 since 2006. They consider these efforts highly important, as the Chattahoochee River was listed as this year's No. 3 endangered rivers by "American Rivers."
The campaign began Memorial Day weekend, and continued through early August. Funds were generated through T-shirt sales, and paper fish displays at local bars, restaurants and retailers. They also sold Waterkeeper Hefeweizen that was brewed to help raise awareness for the cause.
