Charges dropped against 'Avatar' star

ATLANTA (WXIA) -- Charges have been dropped against Avatar star Sam Worthington for a bar fight at a popular Midtown restaurant.

TMZ is reporting that actor Sam Worthington, in town to film the upcoming movie "Ten" with Arnold Schwarzenegger, was arrested at the Midtown Vortex Saturday night and had to be subdued with pepper spray.

According to TMZ, police were called after the actor, best known for his role in "Avatar," was refused entrance to the Peachtree Street bar and grill because staff manning the door said they thought he was too intoxicated. In addition, staff said Worthington did not have the proper identification to enter the Vortex.

A witness told police Worthington pushed the doorman twice, and that the doorman responded by spraying the actor with pepper spray and handcuffing him until police arrived.

When contacted by 11Alive News, management at The Vortex declined to talk about the incident and said they would not provide surveillance video of the incident to the media.
