Weekend roadwork: More sign and bridge work

(WXIA) -- Once again, drivers in the Atlanta area are asked to avoid non-essential travel on Interstate 285 this weekend.

Georgia Department of Transportation road crews will work on several stretches of roads and highways throughout the area Friday night through Monday morning. Many of the projects will require lane closures, which could result in delays.

As always, all work is weather permitting. See this weekend's forecast.

Scheduled projects include:

Coweta County
1 southbound lane of I-85 will be closed at Sharpsburg-McCullum Road from 9 p.m. Friday to 12 p.m. Monday for barrier wall installation.

DeKalb County
2 northbound lanes of I-285 will be closed between Covington Highway and I-20 from 7:30 p.m. Saturday to 7:30 a.m. Sunday for sign structure work.

Fulton County
2 northbound lanes of I-285 will be closed between Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Hollowell Parkway from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for sign structure work.

Fulton County
1 southbound lane of I-285 will be closed between Cascade Road and I-20 from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for sign structure work.

Fulton County
2 northbound lanes and 1 southbound lane of I-285 will be closed between Old National Highway and Camp Creek Parkway from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for sign structure work.

Fulton County
3 eastbound lanes of I-20 will be closed between Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard and McDaniel Street from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for bridge joint repairs.

Fulton County
2 westbound lanes of I-20 and the Pryor Street on-ramp will be closed at the Downtown Connector from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for MARTA bridge painting.

Fulton County
1 lane of Ga. 400 in each direction will be closed between Sidney Marcus Boulevard and I-285 from 7 a.m. Saturday to 7 p.m. Sunday for cable installation.

Fulton/Cobb Counties
2 northbound lanes of I-285 will be closed between Bolton and Atlanta roads from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for concrete rehabilitation.

Fulton/DeKalb counties
2 lanes in each direction of I-285 will be closed between Ga. 400 and Ashford Dunwoody Road from 7:30 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday for sign structure work.

Gwinnett County
2 northbound lanes of I-85 will be closed north of I-985 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday for edgeline work.

Henry/Clayton counties
1 northbound lane of I-675 will be closed between I-75 and I-285 from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for sweeping.

This weekend's events at Atlanta Motor Speedway, including Sunday's Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500, could impact traffic on I-75 south of Atlanta.
