Vets march across Atlanta in undies to raise awareness of veteran suicide
News

ATLANTA -- Dozens of veterans stripped down to their skivvies for a march with a message across Atlanta, Saturday.

They hiked from Centennial Olympic Park to the Carter Center making several stops along the way.

The group is marching to raise awareness about Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and its impact on American troops. They want to stop what has become an epidemic of suicide among veterans.

"We've got 22 kilograms and we're doing 22 kilometers for the 22 veterans that commit suicide," retired Marine Jared Duncan said. "So whatever we can do for the cause, we're going to do it."

On average, 22 veterans commit suicide each day overcome by the burdens that some carry each day - burdens that the nearly 50 pound backs and the long journey symbolize.
