Atlanta police investigate 2 early morning shootings | News
ATLANTA -- Atlanta police are investigating two shootings Wednesday morning.
The first shooting happened just after 2:30 a.m. near a nightclub on Cheshire Bridge Road NE.
The victim, a 36-year-old man, told police he heard gunfire as he was turning into Club Onyx and felt a stinging sensation in his lower back. After exiting his silver Mercedes, the victim discovered he had been shot. Police found three bullet holes in his car.
Atlanta Police Capt. Van Hobbs said the man, who is in stable condition at Grady Hospital, had no idea who shot him or why.
The second shooting happened a few minutes after the first. Police say it was connected to a robbery.
Capt. Van Hobbs said a man and a woman visiting from Florida were approached by two gunmen when they stepped into the breezeway of apartments located in the 300 block of Angier Avenue NE.
The couple was forced to the ground, and as the gunmen were going through their pockets, the man was shot in the back. Hobbs said the wounded man is in serious but stable condition at Grady Hospital.
Police said the gunmen took the couple's blue Buick Regal with Florida license plates.
The names of the two shooting victims were not released. Police continue to investigate both cases.
