ATLANTA (Aug. 31, 2011) - On Sept. 15, the Urban Land Institute (ULI) will host its 17th Annual Development of Excellence Awards at 200 Peachtree Street in Downtown Atlanta.

The Development of Excellence Awards recognizes outstanding real estate development projects that exemplify ULI’s mission to provide leadership in responsible land use and the creation of sustaining, thriving communities. The 2011 finalists include 935M, 12th & Midtown, 1315 Peachtree Street, Shops Around Lenox, Terminus in Atlanta and Warehouse Row in Chattanooga, Tenn.

ULI will also present Helen Tapp, recently retired as Georgia State Director of The Trust for Public Land, with the Dan Sweat Community Leadership Award and A.J. Land, Jr., Chairman of Pope & Land Enterprises, Inc., with the Frank Carter Community Achievement Award. Both of these recipients are being recognized for their contributions to and leadership within the community. There will also be a new award unveiled and presented at this year’s event.

Back by popular demand, comedian Tripp Crosby will serve as the event’s emcee. Those who attended last year’s event enjoyed Crosby’s musical overview and comical video introduction that went viral after the event. He will once again entertain guests with a humorous montage.

The pre-function networking event sponsored by Pope & Land Enterprises, Inc., will begin at 6 p.m., followed by the main event at 7 p.m. There are still tickets and discounts for full table purchases available. Register today at uliatlantaawards.com because tickets are going fast.

This year’s annual co-chairs are Brian Leary of the Atlanta Beltline and Tara Makarechi of the Beck Group. The evening’s gold sponsor is DLA Piper. Other sponsors include IHG, Perkins + Will, Westbridge Partners, Jamestown Properties and Patterson Real Estate Advisory Group.
