ATLANTA – After launching a series of cooking classes this spring and enjoying a terrific response from eager-to-learn students, Chef Asha Gomez has answered requests for additional opportunities to explore the flavors of Kerala cuisine with a second series focused exclusively on vegetarian dishes. Participants will step inside the kitchen at Cardamom Hill every Saturday morning in August for a 2.5-hour journey through the preparation of four Southeast Indian dishes led by Chef Gomez herself.
 
Each class begins with a cup of chai and ends with the chance to sample each of the dishes participants have learned to prepare. Chef Gomez’s vegetarian classes will feature the following examples of classic Kerala cuisine:

The monthly sell-out concert series, ATL Live on the Park, returned to Midtown's Park Tavern restaurant, Tuesday, with seducing performances by Kenny Lattimore, J. Holiday and Ginette Claudette. Dimly lit, under the Tavern's tented canopy, with light rain drizzling just overhead; music lovers indulged in a night of live entertainment, food and libations. 

Ginette Claudette, in Atlanta for the first time, opened the night introducing her new music to the audience. With musical influence that she credits to the church, her powerful vocals, searing rendition of Melanie Fiona's "4 AM," and an endearing style, showed the anticipant ATL crowd that she was ready to make her mark as a new artist.

Oyster Bar at The Optimist celebrates Summer Of Riesling

ATLANTA -- Oyster Bar at The Optimist, the oyster bar adjacent to Ford Fry’s new seafood restaurant on Atlanta’s west side, is celebrating the Summer of Riesling and the debut of the restaurant’s new three-hole putt-putt course on Wednesday, July 18 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. The Summer of Riesling is a nationwide celebration featuring 500 restaurants and wine bars and 100 retailers that are paying homage to and increasing awareness of this German grape.

The evening begins with a Riesling tasting from 5 p.m. to 7 pm. featuring six different Rieslings from various regions of the world. The cost of the tasting is $15 per person, which also includes some light bites from Chef Adam Evans designed to pair with each of the featured wines. Guests who make a reservation for dinner after the tasting and enjoy a featured Riesling during their meal will receive a credit in the amount of the ticket cost.

ATLANTA -- By popular demand, RA Sushi Bar Restaurant is extending its summer entrée and cocktail pairing by one more month! Inspired by backyard picnics and lazy day lounging, the Watermelon Kiwi Shrimp and Melon-Kiwi-Tini is the perfect summer refresher. The pairing is now available at RA Sushi in Midtown through Tuesday, July 31, 2012.

Guests can take a bite out of summer with the Watermelon Kiwi Shrimp, a light, colorful dish made with layers of watermelon, kiwi, orange slices, and lychee, topped with shrimp. The Melon-Kiwi-Tini helps beat the summer heat. Monin Watermelon, Svedka Citron, Shochu, and a splash of citrus soda are muddled together and then served with a garnish of watermelon and kiwi slices. The pairing is available for $18.

ATLANTA -- RA Sushi Bar Restaurant's annual "Nicky's Week" fundraiser raised $197,048.45 this year for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital®, one of the world’s premier pediatric cancer research centers. The Midtown location alone contributed $10,329. Nicky’s Week hit a milestone this year, surpassing the $1 million mark in money raised for St. Jude since the fundraiser was initiated eight years ago.

The popular neighborhood tavern is featuring its six-week long “Red, White and Brew” menu. During this time, all eight locations of Marlow’s will offer special dishes and beverages that truly celebrate the summer season in America. This is also the time for grill masters to show off their skills in Marlow’s Third Annual Grilling Recipe Contest.

“We’re excited for the return of our ‘Red, White and Brew’ menu as it signifies a season of good times with friends and family, warmer weather and Americana,” says Executive Chef/Co-Founder John C.
