Watershed on Peachtree now open for lunch

Watershed is now serving lunch at its new location in The Brookwood located at 1820 Peachtree Street. Chef Joe Truex serves a Southern-inspired farm-to-table menu perfect for a leisurely lunch on the patio or a quick break from the office. The new menu is offered Tuesday through Saturday from 11:30 - 3 p.m.

Tin Drum Asia Café to open more restaurants

ATLANTA -- Atlanta-based Tin Drum Asia Café plans to open six new restaurants this year and eight more in the coming years, the chain announced Tuesday.

The very first Tin Drum opened at Georgia Tech, alma mater of founder Steven Chan. Since then, it has spread to locations throughout metro Atlanta, including Atlantic Station, Buckhead, Cumming, Dunwoody and Georgia State University.

Brand new Tin Drum locations include Augusta, Chastain Park, Emory Village and the chain's first restaurant outside Georgia -- Birmingham, Ala.

More locations slated to open later this year include Athens, Roswell and Midtown's Colony Square.

"Our plan is to double the size of Tin Drum in 2012 with additional units throughout Atlanta and in Athens, Augusta, Birmingham and throughout the Southeast," Chan said in a statement.

RA Sushi Introduces New Menu Items and Additional Cocktail Selections

ATLANTA -- Beginning Monday, June 18, RA Sushi Bar Restaurant in Midtown will roll out updated dinner and beverage menus, adding a new selection of appetizers, shareable creations and specialty cocktails.

“Every year, RA Sushi refreshes its menu to keep the choices new and exciting for our guests,” said RA Sushi Executive Chef Tai Obata. “We stay true to our popular favorites, while introducing some new flavors focused on culinary trends.”

Under the “Soup and Salads” category, Obata added the Clam Udon: sake steamed clams served over udon noodles in a sake cream broth ($13.25). A variety of creations for grazing have also been added to the menu. Guests can get started with the Edamame Dip: a creamy edamame and spinach dip, served warm with wonton chips ($5.25).

Cops on Doughnut Shops to benefit Special Olympics

ATLANTA -- Nine metro Atlanta Krispy Kreme doughnut shops will participate in this year's Cops on Doughnut Shops fundraiser for Special Olympics.

From 6 a.m. on Friday, June 8 until 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 10, local law enforcement officers will be on the roofs of the Krispy Kremes, where they will eat, sleep and play while collecting donations from customers.

The money raised during Cops on Doughnut Shops will go to the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Georgia.

Children of Conservation’s Inaugural “Eats And Beats” Event Raises Over $20,000

Children of Conservation’s first ever  Eats & Beats  event  held at The Buckhead Theatre on Monday, May 7, 2012 featured over 20 of Atlanta’s best restaurants and catering companies as well as four entertaining chef bands. Nearly 500 people attended, raising $20,023 for Children of Conservation, a non-profit organization that works to protect endangered animals and provide scholarships for wildlife sanctuary workers’ children.

Atlanta Chefs Celebrate First Pastured Poultry Week, June 11-17

Georgians for Pastured Poultry (GPP), an alliance that is promoting the use of high-welfare, pasture raised poultry in Georgia, has created Pastured Poultry Week to take place Monday, June 11 through Sunday, June 17, 2012.

As part of this annual event, Atlanta restaurants will help spread the word about the many virtues of pastured poultry – its superior taste, the natural life of the chickens, and the positive impact on both human health and the health of the environment – by serving it on their menus every day during this designated week. Additionally, chef demonstrations at local farmers markets throughout the spring and summer will educate consumers on ways to prepare pastured poultry in order to continue raising awareness.
