Children of Conservation’s Inaugural “Eats And Beats” Event Raises Over $20,000

Children of Conservation’s first ever  Eats & Beats  event  held at The Buckhead Theatre on Monday, May 7, 2012 featured over 20 of Atlanta’s best restaurants and catering companies as well as four entertaining chef bands. Nearly 500 people attended, raising $20,023 for Children of Conservation, a non-profit organization that works to protect endangered animals and provide scholarships for wildlife sanctuary workers’ children.

Atlanta Chefs Celebrate First Pastured Poultry Week, June 11-17

Georgians for Pastured Poultry (GPP), an alliance that is promoting the use of high-welfare, pasture raised poultry in Georgia, has created Pastured Poultry Week to take place Monday, June 11 through Sunday, June 17, 2012.

As part of this annual event, Atlanta restaurants will help spread the word about the many virtues of pastured poultry – its superior taste, the natural life of the chickens, and the positive impact on both human health and the health of the environment – by serving it on their menus every day during this designated week. Additionally, chef demonstrations at local farmers markets throughout the spring and summer will educate consumers on ways to prepare pastured poultry in order to continue raising awareness.

The Watermelon Kiwi Shrimp is almost too pretty to eat….well, almost. It’s a light, colorful dish made with layers of watermelon, kiwi, orange slices, and lychee, topped with shrimp. Children of Conservation is once again giving Atlanta residents the opportunity to save at some of the city’s top restaurants while also supporting an important cause. The non-profit organization known for providing an otherwise unavailable education to children of wildlife sanctuary workers in Africa is teaming up with over 85 local restaurants in all areas of Atlanta for its second annual Dinner & A Cause Card fundraiser.

RA Sushi To Host Eighth Annual Nicky’s Week on May 27 – June 2

RA Sushi will host its eighth annual “Nicky’s Week” fundraiser Sunday, May 27, through Saturday, June 2, to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, one of the world’s premier centers for research and treatment of pediatric cancer and other deadly diseases since it opened 50 years ago.

The Midtown restaurant and bar will donate 100 percent of the proceeds from the sale of a variety of menu items and beverages to St. Jude to help support the hospital’s lifesaving mission. Since its inception, Nicky’s Week has raised more than $943,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and RA Sushi hopes to surpass the $1 million mark this year. 

The special Nicky’s Week menu includes: Edamame, Tootsy Maki, Shrimp Nigiri, Pork Gyoza, Chicken Yakitori, Garlic Citrus Yellowtail Tapas, plus a variety of select beverages.

ATLANTA -- It's back! Starbucks' wildly popular Frappuccino Happy Hour event will return this Friday, May 4.

The coffeehouse chain will hold Frappuccino Happy Hour every day through Sunday, May 13, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. All sizes of the Frappuccino frozen drinks are half-price during Happy Hour.

Starbucks has brought back its two coconut drinks -- the Mocha Coconut Frappuccino and the Coconut Crème Frappuccino -- for summer. It also debuted two brand new flavors on Tuesday.

The Mocha Cookie Crumble Frappuccino is "an indulgent blend of rich mocha sauce, vanilla syrup, Frappuccino chips, our signature Frappuccino Roast coffee and milk blended with ice and topped with delicious chocolatey whipped cream and chocolate cookie crumbles."
